Mediterranean Diet on Inflammatory Bowel Disease
This study showed for those with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease that a Mediterranean Diet followed for 6 months significantly reduced malnutrition-related parameters and liver steatosis (basically an accumulation of fat in the liver).
Spontaneous improvement of disease activity and inflammatory markers!
What did the Mediterranean diet, used look like you might be wondering? Well, it was based on eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, olive oil, red wine, and yogurt. That’s plain yoghurt without the sugar and fruit in it!
The authors state the role of nutrition in the management of IBD has been underestimated!!
This diet is not a complementary therapy, it is the therapy 🙂
