Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where fine needles are painlessly inserted into the skin at specific points along energy channels (meridians) to create a balance in the flow of energy (Qi). When there is a blockage in Qi along the meridians, there is imbalance and disease.
Stimulating the flow of Qi, increases blood flow, circulation, immune function and the release of the body’s natural pain killersBeing raised by a grandmother who always cured our winter ills with herbal remedies was my first encounter with natural therapies.
Being a very healthy child and never going to doctors was the norm for me. As I became a teen, I soon realized I could help others learn about ways to stay healthy particularly through the use of herbal medicine and nutrition. I studied Naturopathy straight out of high school and was practicing by age 20.
Six years into practicing as a Naturopath I discovered Acupuncture and never looked back. I loved how it complemented the herbal and nutritional treatments on a different level by working on balancing the body’s Qi.
I like to think I bring both the western and eastern philosophies of natural medicine together, to create a holistic treatment that works on both the physical and mental/emotional levels.
