HOW TO TAKE

Serving suggestions:
1 standard serve = 5 grams (approximately 1 heaped teaspoon)

Clay Drink:
Add 1 heaped teaspoon to a glass of water, juice or your favourite smoothie. Lightly stir and it is ready to drink.

Premixed Clay Drink:
Mix 1 part clay to 10 parts water. eg.100g of clay to 1 litre of water. 1 serve = 50 ml. Dilute with water or juice as required. Shake well before use.

Edible Paste:
1 part clay to 2 parts water. eg 20g clay to 40ml water. For best results let it hydrate for a couple of hours, the longer the better. No mixing is necessary, just let it sit. Any excess water can be poured off.

Tip:
Sprinkle the clay into the water. Not the water to the clay. When making a large amount sprinkle it in layers ie. water first then clay then water etc. It will hydrate more evenly.

Store the hydrated clay in a sealed container of food-grade plastic or glass only. Refrigerate when premixed for ingestion.

-Clay Bath Preparation-

Preparing a clay bath is a simple procedure that only takes a few minutes. This particular Bentonite clay readily mixes into a smooth milk-like solution and no pre-mixing is necessary. The clay can be added directly to the water while the bath is running. Sprinkling the clay over the surface of the water will quickly produce an even clay bath that is ready for use in a matter of minutes.

How much to use?
Generally speaking, 1 - 2 cups of clay is used for cleansing baths but more can be used if preferred. As a guide, an adult will use 1-2 cups of Bentonite per bath. 1 cup = 200 grams approx. so there are about 5 cups per kilo.

Children half to one cup.

Duration: 20 to 40 minutes or as desired.

-Clay Foot Bath-

A regular footbath is a great way to relax and unwind after a long day and it only takes a few minutes to prepare. Not to be underestimated, a footbath can be a very effective alternative to having full clay bath and one that can be enjoyed while watching your favourite television show or reading a book.

This particular Bentonite clay is very easy to mix into a footbath compared with other clays that tend to clump. No pre-mixing is necessary, the clay can be added directly to the water. Sprinkling the clay over the surface of the water will produce an even clay water mix that is ready for use in a matter of minutes. A container with enough depth for two feet at least up to the ankles is ideal.

Duration: 15 to 30 minutes or as desired.

-Facial-

Clay Facial:
Apply a thin layer of paste to the skin for 10 - 20 min. or longer if preferred. Some may wish to leave it for approximately one hour. There is no set time limit. Even a regular 5min facial is effective in maintaining clean healthy skin. Remove with a damp cloth.

Mixing Ratio:
Mix 1 part clay to 2 parts of water. eg. add 100g (4 heaped dessertspoons) of clay to 200ml of water.

Add the clay to the water not the water to the clay. Let it settle for about one hour and then pour off any excess water. It is ready to use!

For large amounts alternately layering the clay and water will ensure a more even hydration. Start with water then clay then water etc.

No mixing is necessary.

Once it has become fully hydrated you will have a smooth paste that you can use for facial, body wraps, clay pack, poultice.

Kneading and extra water may be necessary if it becomes slightly dry during storage.
Tip: once the clay has dried out it will not have any cleansing effect. It will need to be moistened again.

-Clay Pack-

For a clay pack you will want the clay to be spreadable but not too watery.

Mixing ratio
2:1 ie 2 parts water to one part clay.

Add the clay to the water not the water to the clay.

It is a good idea to plan ahead and prepare the clay approximately 1-2 hours in advance.. This will give the clay plenty of time to hydrate. Preparing a large batch for future use is also a good idea.

APPLYING THE CLAY PACK
Spread directly onto the area to be treated or onto gauze/cloth and then apply.
Lightly bandage to keep in place. An elastic bandage is ideal. The thicker you apply it the stronger it will be. Some applications may require 10mm thick and others only 5mm.
Leave the clay on for approximately 20 to 60 minutes. A poultice can be kept on for a number of hours or over night if so desired.
Repeat as required. If the clay drys out it will become inactive and thus loses its effectiveness. If a longer application is required, it can be sprayed with a fine mist of water to keep it in a moist & active condition.
